The editor

Block-based editing with drag handles, adjustable width, and inline metrics.

Block-based editing

Every element in a note — paragraphs, headings, lists, tables, code blocks, and more — is a discrete block. Hover over any block to reveal a drag handle on its left side. Grab the handle and drag to reorder blocks within the note. This makes it easy to restructure your content without copy-pasting.

Note width

The editor column has an adjustable maximum width to help you control line length for comfortable reading. Drag the resize handle (the vertical dots icon to the right of the title) to adjust it, or use the slider in Settings → Appearance → Typography. You can also nudge the width in 10 px increments by focusing the resize handle and pressing ArrowLeft (narrower) or ArrowRight (wider).

Formatting toolbar

A formatting toolbar sits at the bottom of the editor. In its default collapsed state, it shows a formatting dropdown menu and a few quick-action buttons. You can expand it from Settings → View → "Expand formatting toolbar" to show individual buttons for every formatting option: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, headings (H1–H3), bullet/numbered/todo lists, subscript, superscript, blockquote, highlight, inline code, code block, link, table, divider, fold selection, case conversion (UPPER, lower, Sentence, Title), and clear formatting.

Word count and reading time

Enable the word count display from Settings → Editor → "Show word count metrics." A small, non-intrusive counter appears in the bottom-right corner of the editor showing the total word count and an estimated reading time for the current note.

Inspector panel

Click the inspector panel icon in the document toolbar (or use keyboard shortcut Ctrl/) to reveal a side panel with five tabs: (1) AI: A conversational writing assistant. (2) Outline: A navigable table of contents built from your note's headings. (3) Properties: Metadata, color picker, category assignment, document history, and detailed readability grade level indexes. (4) Scratchpad: A place to write temporary notes. (5) Help: An interactive help browser to search topics and read articles.
