Settings
Appearance, typography, view options, time and date, and account.
Appearance
Switch between Light, Dark, and Auto (follows your operating system's preference). You can also quickly toggle the theme using the sun/moon icon in the bottom-left corner of the app. The Auto setting listens for changes to your OS theme in real time, so switching your system to dark mode immediately updates Snownotes.
Typography
Fine-tune your reading and writing experience with three sliders: Font size (6–40 px, default 15), Line height (1–3, default 1.62), and Note width (300–1400 px, default 480). Each slider has a reset button that returns it to its default value. These settings apply globally to all notes.
View options
The View tab in Settings gives you control over how the interface looks and behaves. You can toggle: sidebar visibility, split screen mode, card-style document list, dates in the document list, category icons and labels in the document list, the expanded formatting toolbar, tags displayed below the editor, word count metrics, the table of contents outline panel, and whether completed todos are hidden.
Time & date
Choose between 12-hour (1:00 PM) and 24-hour (13:00) time format. Set the date display style to "Human" (relative timestamps like "2 hours ago" or "Yesterday") or "Precise" (exact timestamps like "Apr 29, 2026, 9:05 AM"). These preferences are applied throughout the app — in the document list, the inspector panel, and anywhere dates are shown.
Account
The Account tab shows your currently logged-in email and profile picture (if using an OAuth provider). From here you can log out of your current session and access the note importer for batch-importing files. The current app version number is also displayed at the bottom of this tab.
