Cookie Policy
Version 1.0 — Last updated: 20 August 2026
This page lists every cookie Snownotes sets and what it is for. Snownotes is operated by Sirap Pty Ltd (ACN 652 857 844); questions to info@snownotes.co.
The short version
Snownotes sets only cookies the service needs to function. There are no analytics, advertising, or third-party cookies, which is why you don't see a cookie consent banner.
Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
session | Keeps you signed in | 30 days | Essential |
google_oauth_state, google_code_verifier, github_oauth_state | Protect sign-in with Google or GitHub against forgery. Set only during that sign-in flow, where offered | 10 minutes | Essential |
futhark_layout, futhark_resolved | Remember your layout preference (desktop or mobile) so pages render right the first time. "Futhark" is the project's internal name | 12 months | Functional |
Essential cookies are required for the service to work at all. Functional cookies remember a choice you made; they are set only on your device, sent only to us, and used for nothing else.
Storage in your browser
Beyond cookies, Snownotes keeps data in your browser's local storage so the app works well — and offline:
- Preferences — appearance, editor, and view settings.
- Drafts — unsaved note edits, kept locally for up to 7 days so a lost connection doesn't lose your work.
- Offline cache — a copy of your notes, so the app can open without a connection.
- AI provider settings — including any API keys you enter. These are stored only in your browser, never on our servers.
You can clear all of this through your browser's site-data settings. Doing so signs you out and removes the offline copy of your notes; notes saved to your account are unaffected. The installable Snownotes apps keep the same data in the app's own storage; uninstalling the app removes it.
Changes
If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary — analytics, for example — we will update this page, bump the version, and ask for your consent first.
