Todo lists

Create, nest, and reorder checkable tasks; filter notes that contain todos.

Creating todos

Type [] (two square brackets) followed by a space to start a todo list. You can also insert one from the slash menu by typing /todo, or use the todo button in the formatting toolbar. Each todo item has a checkbox on its left side.

Checking off

Click the checkbox to toggle a todo item between done and not done. You can also place your cursor on a todo item and press CtrlEnter to toggle its state without reaching for the mouse. Completed items are shown with a strikethrough style.

Nesting

Press Tab to indent a todo item, turning it into a sub-todo nested under the item above. Press ShiftTab to outdent it back up a level. This lets you break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps.

Reordering

Drag todo items using their drag handle to reorder them within the list. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Alt and Alt to move the current item up or down without using the mouse.

Hide completed todos

If your todo list gets long, you can hide completed items to reduce clutter. Toggle "Hide checked todos" from the document menu (⋯), or set it globally from Settings → View → "Hide checked todos." Hidden items are not deleted — they reappear when you toggle the setting back.

Filtering by todos

Use the view selector in the document list and choose "Todos" to see only notes that contain at least one todo item. This is a quick way to find your task-oriented notes across your entire workspace.
